Meet the team
Our small, dedicated team at Oakfield Gardens ensures every service runs smoothly with a can‑do attitude at the heart of all we do. We’re approachable, caring, and committed to providing an exceptional experience for every family who places their trust in us.
Kelvin
Crematorium Service Manager
Kelvin’s first role in funeral services was in 2002 as a technician at a cemetery and crematorium in Berkshire. After a few years it was clear that this role would lead on to be Kelvin’s vocation and he soon gained experience in administration and attending to services in chapel and in the cemetery. When the opportunity arose, Kelvin moved into an administration role responsible for processing cremation and memorial paperwork.
In 2013 Kelvin took up the post of Assistant Bereavement Services Manager overseeing the operations of a busy service in London. After a couple of years Kelvin became the Bereavement Services Manager and then Head of Service, responsible for two crematoria and five cemeteries.
In February 2024 Kelvin became the first manager of Oakfield Gardens, responsible for the day to day operation of the facility. The crematorium started offering it’s services to the public on 16th May 2024.
“Being given the opportunity to open the first crematorium in Central Bedfordshire has been incredibly rewarding, especially the responsibility of forming the new team and putting everything in place to offer services to the public. I really enjoy my role here and look forward to seeing the service grow, particularly within the community”
Kar-Ming
Assistant Crematorium Manager
Kar-Ming’s first role in funeral services was as a funeral operative at a national funeral directors in Herts, Beds and Bucks in 2017. After a year he took up the role of Funeral Director, where he had the honour of guiding families through funeral arrangements and leading them on the day of the service. After a few years Kar-Ming moved into the role of Business Manager, but his passion lay in the day-to-day contact with bereaved families, so he made the decision to continue as a Funeral Director.
This led to a move, in 2022, to a family-owned funeral directors. Kar-Ming looked after the funeral homes in Dunstable, Luton and Tring, where he found a rewarding part of his role was to work in the local community to help break down the taboo around death.
In 2024 Kar-Ming joined Oakfield Gardens as Assistant Manager, where he continues supporting families in his local community.
“I couldn’t miss the opportunity to work in the first crematorium in Central Bedfordshire. I really enjoy working here in a great facility and with a great team. It’s so rewarding and while people often ask, ‘how can you work with the dead?’ I say that I don’t only work with the dead. I work with the living and help them through a very difficult time of their life.”
